Dear friends, I know many (24!) of you were looking forward to this extraordinary sailing event as much as I was, so it really breaks my heart to tell you I had to cancel it. The yacht brokers in Greece made a huge error in their accounting. It seems that despite our back and forth communication and their continuous itinerary date confirmation (since last April!), only hours before giving them a substantial non refundable deposit and while on a “final check” phone call with the actual boat owners, did they realize the broker had been quoting me a 2 DAY rental price for a 2 WEEK trip! Obviously this was a difference that could not be re-cooped no matter what I cut out of the trip. Soooooo…a change in wind, a change in tack I’m certainly not giving up on the idea. I’ll just find us a more attentive broker, a smaller boat and a simpler itinerary. I’m presently looking into 2 options – Hang in there, we WILL sail the coast of Italy! I’ll update this page as soon as I have something confirmed. |
