Cinque Terre
One of DVA’s favorite days is spent hiking through the 5 tiny cliff-side villages of CINQUE TERRE; Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Walking along the coastline, and weaving through green vineyards with views of the ocean below, you’ll think you’re walking the borders of heaven! The villages are perfectly distanced, 15 minutes to 2-hour hikes apart. And if the breathtaking-scenery-walk tires you out, just finish the route by boat or train. Be sure to stop at each town for a refreshing swim, some local focaccia, pesto, or sciacchetra’ (pronounced sha-ke-trah), the region’s sweet golden wine. Suggestion: Minimum a 3-day stay. Transportation is easy by train (from La Spezia), useless by car. There are different pass options, but for your hike day, buy the “full option card” - good for the trails but also the boat, bus and train, your choice, depending on exhaustion and film supply. Cost is @ 15 $, they look like a bus pass and are sold at kiosks in each town Best to boat one way and walk back.
